RICHARD DANIEL OLSON
May 9, 1964 ~ January 7, 2015

Richard Daniel Olson, 50, died unexpectedly Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at his home in Yuma, Arizona.
He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on May 9, 1964, son of Richard Olson (Carol) and Linda Waite (Robert). Richard graduated from Technical Memorial High School with a trade certificate in electronics in 1982. He marched in the Erie Thunderbirds Drum and Bugle corps from 1980-1982. He had a great love for music and drum corps.
After graduation, he joined the United States Navy as an aircraft Doppler radar navigation IMA technician. He served proudly until 1989.

At the time of his death, Rich was employed at the City of Yuma as a Network Administrator. Rich enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed being with his friends.

He was a proud Pittsburgh

fan.

Rich made a significant impact on the paths of every life he crossed. He was a friend to all and was loved by all. He reconnected with his high school sweetheart and soul mate, Cindy Bensur, and her children, Samantha, John, and Amanda.

While living in Yuma, he made many close friends he considered part of his family.

Rich was preceded in death by his brother, John Olsen; and paternal grandparents, Doris and Richard Olson. He is survived by his parents; daughter, Jenni (Mark) Olson; granddaughter, Clara; sister, Anita (David) Fay. He is also survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews within his extended family.

email from Cindy from Ritchie's boss.

As a four year member of the IT staff responsible for the city’s utilities, I can say without hesitation, that he will be truly missed.
He was an exemplary colleague, a friend to everyone, and would give the shirt off his back to anyone any day of the week.
His presence has certainly been impactful not only to me, but to the City of Yuma.
And as Rich was a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, it seems only fitting to quote Steelers coach Mike Tomlin on his behalf,    “We don’t live in our fears, we live in our hopes.”

I will communicate any additional information I receive regarding his services as they are made known to me.
Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. We will miss him!
