Bernice Marie Gamble

July 23, 1923 - Nov 9, 2013

Bernice Marie Gamble, was born July 23, 1923 to Thomas and Emma Chaplin in Beaufort, SC. She moved to Akron OH in 1940 where she attended Garfield High School and was employed at Goodyear Aerospace for a couple of years during the war.

Mrs. Gamble exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman as a devoted wife to her husband, Nathan Gamble, a dedicated mother to her three daughters, and a giving, loving, selfless mother to her stepson. Bernice worked diligently to maintain a loving Christian home, giving to those in need and feeding all who entered.
She was worth more than rubies and gold.

She joined St. Paul AME Church in 1952 where she served as Head Usher for a number of years and worked faithfully in Hospitality - planning, preparing and serving meals for special events.

Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Emma Chaplain, husband, Nathan Gamble; brother, Thomas Chaplin, jr. ; uncle, Joe Howard; and great grandson, Malcolm (Scoot) Williams.

Bernice leaves to cherish her loving memory, daughters, Cassandra (Andre) Knight, Barbara (Earl) Spidell and Flora (Ron) Williams; stepson, Nathan Gamble, jr. ; granddaughters, Jennifer Gamble and Anne Williams; grandson, Nathan Spidell; great granddaughter, Monet Williams; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Chaplin; nephews, Robert Davis and Kevin Chaplin; nieces, Elizabeth Owens and Leslie (Glenn) Brown; sister-friend, Gladys Ingersoll; sons adapted-by-love, Don (Ruby) Williams and Lewis Barnes; loving nieces Ena Babridge and Randolette Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery. next to her husband Nathan.

neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."

November 12, 2013 Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
